เริ่มต้นที่ผมอยากรู้ว่าเพลงแนว Neo-Classic ที่มีการปั่นกีต้าร์เร็วๆนี่จะเหมาะกับเกมส์แข่งรถหรือเปล่า ผมเลยทดลองโดยเลือกเพลงที่ชอบที่สุดเพลงนึงของ Vinnie Moore คือเพลง Lifeforce จากอัลบั้ม Mind’s Eye มาลองใช้กับ trailer ของเกมส์ Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

เริ่มที่การตัดต่อเพลงให้สั้นลงมาเหลือความยาวราวๆ 1นาทีด้วยโปรแกรม Soundtrack Pro 2 ตัดหัวท้ายให้ฟังลื่น จากนั้นก็ใช้โปรแกรม Vegas 9 สำหรับตัดต่อ vdo ต้นฉบับให้มีจังหวะพอดีกับจังหวะของดนตรี แต่พอตัดเสร็จแล้วมีปัญหาว่า Vegas 9 สั่ง render ออกมาให้เป็น MP4 ที่มี spec อย่างที่ผมต้องการไม่ได้ ก็เลยต้องย้ายมาตัดใหม่ทั้งหมดบน Final Cut Pro นี่เป็นการใช้งาน FCP ครั้งแรก ก็เลยช้าหน่อย แต่ก็รู้สึกโอเคกับงานที่ออกมาครับ

ปล. แนะนำให้ดูแบบ HD เพื่อคุณภาพที่ดีกว่าครับ :)

I wonder if Neo-Classical guitar-shred song suits racing game. So I picked up one of my favorite guitar tunes, Vinnie Moore’s Lifeforce, from Mind’s Eye album. I shortened it with SoundTrack Pro and chopped the trailer up with Final Cut Pro to match the tempo of this song.

Actually I edited this video using Sony Vegas Pro 9 on PC first. But I found out that Vegas can’t directly render as MP4 (H.264 codec). So I decided to get started with Final Cut Pro. (spent hours to make FCP show waveform on timeline)

The Sounds of Prototype

Prototype, the game developed by Radical Entertainment, is releasing in September 2009. I’ve just read “Prototype Audio Blogs” which described how the sound of Prototype was made, including ambient sound, SFX and score. I’m excited to know how the sound guys work.

Moreover, in that topic, there is a comment provide a link to Youtube. It’s Daily Planet on Discovery Channel features Prototype’s sound designer Cory Hawthorne talking how sounds were created.

Nissan 370z commercial : look good, sound good

As a Nissan fan, 370z is one of my favorite. I prefer it to GTR-series. Here’s the 370z commercial from Youtube. I’ve no doubt how good-looking it is. Moreover, I really like its sound design. There’s no voiceover, it’s all about SFX. The sound of engine and other SFX switch back and forth throughout this commercial. Check it out & let’s SHIFT_desire.
