I’ve been using OSX 10.5 (Leopard) since the very first day I bought my Macbook Pro more than 3 years ago. I decided to upgrade to 10.6 (Snow Leopard) last week after begin sure all application I’m using is 10.6 compatible. Everything looks find after upgrade but Soundtrack Pro & Logic Pro.
In the last 2 years, Soundtrack Pro has been my go-to software when it came to not-so-complicated recording & editing. It sometimes crash while editing but it’s rock-solid stable for 1-2 hours long recording. After upgrading to OSX 10.6.8, it crashes EVERYTIME I “Open” and “Save As” the file.
“Open Recent” works fine, also opening .stmp file by double-clicking in Finder does. So, Let’s say it crashes everytime the file-browsing window needs to be shown up. I tried to check if this issue happen with the other Apple’s pro applications. Final Cut Pro 7 was fine, but Logic Pro got the same issue. I restored to OSX 10.5.8 with Time Machine and everything works fine, both Soundtrack Pro 3 and Logic Pro 8.
I upgraded OSX to 10.6.8 again and encountered this issue again with the same applications. So, I decided to move back to OSX 10.5.8 and will go on with it for sometime. I’ve no idea why this happened, but it really annoyed me!
