88.2KHz has better high, 96KHz has better low, How come?

I’m reading the interview of one of mastering engineer. I’m curious in the point he gave comment about sampling rate. He said he had to work with many sampling rate and we should understand the “Charactor” of each sampling rate. For example, the different between 88.2KHz and 96KHz. He explained that 88.2KHz has better high, while 96KHz has better low. How come?

According to Nyquist theory, both 88.2 and 96KHz can capture way higher than human’s audible range. So I think this is not the point. IMO, the higher sampling rate comes the more samples in digital domain used for calculation and processing. I don’t think this different in sampling rate between 88.2 and 96 causes the “Charactor” the way he mentioned.

I’d like to see what you think about this.
